EVA Versus PU Sole

If you try to compare EVA with any other sole, a clear difference will be visible. So let’s start by doing some.

Whereas EVA is a soft, airy structure that cushions your foot, maintains the foot line, and molds to its shape, PU (or Polyurethane) is very different. It is hard-wearing. It is heavier which makes it less useful. At the same time, PU soles are hardly good for sports shoes.

EVA Versus Rubber Sole

These two soles have many similarities; like EVA, rubber is also a flexible material and Both are waterproof. But, Rubber is heavier than EVA, which is why EVA is so favored for sports and running shoes. Though rubber serves better than EVA in not letting you slip in wet conditions. But if you are spending lots of time on your feet then you will find that a rubber sole becomes less comfortable. But in this case, EVA will serve perfectly as it stays as soft and wearable at the end of the day as it did at the start. This is mainly because EVA molds to the shape of feet, whereas rubber can’t and springs back more.

Though rubber has a far longer life than EVA, it is only possible if you treat it in a well-handled manner.

EVA Versus Leather Sole

One highly important thing is that an EVA sole provides superior comfort. But it also can’t be denied that a well-constructed leather sole can also be highly wearable – especially when it is combined with cork but it always highly depends on your pocket balance. If you don’t have satisfying money then a thin leather sole may feel less cozy and rigid.

But the beauty of EVA soles is that they are not so expensive and can provide quality within your budget limit. A leather sole may be appropriate for your formal wearing but it can not be as appropriate for your sportswear as an EVA sole.

Some In-depth knowledge about EVA

In this section, we will provide you with some In-depth knowledge about EVA, so that you can bring the ideal choice for you. So, let’s start.

Compression Molded EVA Versus Injection Molded EVA

  • Compression-molded EVA uses a mold like a waffle iron which shapes the detail and the design of the EVA Midsole. The manufacturer greases the mold and makes it easy for the sole to pop out and the next one to go in. And when CMEVA comes out of the design mold, it is exactly the same size and shape. It is just like a home baking method, using a cookie cutter. CMEVA is a preferred method for manufacturers, as it can produce stunning results for the quality of design and detail.
  • On the other hand, an injection-molded EVA sole is a bit different. Unlike the compression method, the mold shape is only about half the size of the end product.

First, the EVA liquid is heated highly and after that, a blowing agent is injected into the mold. Then it is left for some time, and when the mold is removed, the EVA sole jumps out of the shell – full-sized and fully formed!

In many cases, injection molded EVA is preferable for many manufacturers because it produces less waste, and gives a good bounce and extra cushioning than CMEVA.

However, many shoemakers favor CMEVA also; as it is far superior in the case of design. Additionally, this method is cheaper than injection-molded EVA and may be far more firm. But at the same time, it is a bit heavier than the injection molded variety.
